My Pixel 9 Pro XL does not have magsafe so it needs this type of cradle. The cradle works a bit differently than I initially expected. I assumed the side grips would automatically adjust when placing the phone in and that a button would release it. Instead, you first set the cradle width for your phone, and it locks into that position. From there, you snap the phone in and out through two small rollers that provide the grip. It felt a little unusual, but once you understand how it’s designed to work, it actually holds the phone very well.
When placing my phone in the cradle, I found that I had to position the phone slightly higher to avoid pressing the three buttons on the right side. Even so, the mount’s arms grip the bottom third of the phone and still hold it securely without any wobble. Overall, it’s an expensive but convenient and flexible mount that works well with my Pixel phone.
Suction & Placement:
• Strong Grip: It sticks very well to the dash above the radio. I even had to reapply it once, and it came off cleanly without leaving any sticky residue behind.
• Low Profile: Despite the limited space in the Explorer, it fits well without being overly distracting.
Fit & Functionality:
• Stability: The "memory hold" feature is impressive. Once the phone is in, it stays put—no rocking or sliding, even on bumpy roads.
• The "Snug" Factor: It is a very tight fit. You have to be careful when sliding your phone in so you don’t accidentally press the side volume or power buttons.
• Learning Curve: Definitely read the instructions! The release mechanism (the back plate) and the contracting arms take a minute to get used to. Once you understand the design, it works smoothly, but it isn’t immediately intuitive.
Final Verdict: If you need a mount that absolutely will not budge, this is it. It’s a bit of a "learning experience" to operate, but the stability and clean removal make it a win for newer car interiors.
